A comfortable place to begin
Let’s talk about what you need.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. A general idea of what’s happening is enough to start a conversation.
Request a free consultation
- Is the first consultation free?
- Yes. Your initial consultation is free, with no obligation to hire the firm.
- Who will get back to me?
- A firm attorney generally responds first, so you can begin with someone who understands legal questions.
- How soon should I hear back?
- Usually the same business day, during our office hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mountain Time. Response times can vary.
- Can we speak by phone or Zoom?
- Yes. Telephone and Zoom consultations are available, so you can speak with us without coming to the office.
- When will I know the legal fees?
- We explain legal fees before you hire our firm, so you can make an informed decision.
- What should I have ready?
- Just a brief overview and any urgent dates you know about. You don’t need a polished explanation. Save detailed sensitive information for your conversation with an attorney.
Information you choose to provide
You may provide a name, telephone number, email address, and information about a legal matter when you call, text, email, or use the linked online intake. Do not send confidential documents, original materials, passwords, financial-account credentials, or sensitive evidence unless the firm instructs you to do so through an approved method.
Information submitted through the online intake is processed through Clio Grow, a third-party legal intake service. Its services are subject to its own privacy and security terms. Telephone, text-message, and email providers also process communications according to their respective services and policies.
Virtual assistant and inquiry records
When available, our automated virtual assistant can answer basic questions about the firm, explain selected general legal terms and court processes, and collect a preliminary inquiry. It asks for your name and mobile number after your opening message, then may collect other-party names, a general description of your legal needs, urgency, relevant dates, and an optional email address. Please keep the conversation general and save detailed sensitive information for communication with an attorney.
Your opening message remains in the page until you submit your name and mobile number by selecting Continue chatting. That submission saves your opening message and contact details to the firm. Later submitted answers and changes are also saved, even if you leave before selecting Send inquiry. The firm may follow up on an incomplete inquiry. The assistant does not perform a conflict clearance or accept representation.
The firm stores submitted inquiry information and conversation records in a private WordPress inbox and uses configured email services and a restricted Google Sheets workbook to deliver inquiry summaries to staff. WordPress records are encrypted at rest; authorized administrators and the services used to deliver summaries can access information needed for their work. Email and spreadsheet copies have their own access controls and retention.
When AI is enabled, OpenAI processes the current submitted message and conversation step to help identify its purpose. To provide a brief explanation, it also receives selected reference material, firm information, and up to two previous questions and answers for context. Separate name and phone form fields are not included in these requests, but anything you type in a message may be processed. The assistant can look up public Utah Courts information. Its separate web searches use general legal topics selected from a fixed catalogue, without your message text or contact fields. Public source material may be cached for up to two hours. Questions and answers remain part of the inquiry record. Requests are configured not to store an API response for later retrieval; this does not eliminate service-provider security or abuse-monitoring retention.
The assistant keeps a temporary session identifier and a greeting preference in browser session storage so a conversation can continue within the same browser tab. It does not place names, contact details, or message text in that storage. Chat access expires after two hours; expiration or closing the tab does not delete information already submitted. Inquiry records remain subject to the firm's retention practices described below.
Information generated by website use
The web host, content-management system, security services, and any analytics or performance tools that are enabled may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, timestamps, and security or error logs.
The site may use necessary cookies or similar storage for core functions and security. If optional analytics or advertising measurement is enabled, those technologies may collect additional usage information. The policy should be reviewed whenever the firm changes the measurement tools used on the production website.
How information may be used
Information may be used to respond to an inquiry, conduct a conflicts review, evaluate whether the firm can offer representation, operate and secure the website, maintain records, improve site usability, comply with law and professional obligations, prevent misuse, and establish or protect legal rights.
Submitting information does not create an attorney-client relationship. Until the firm completes its review and both the client and firm enter a written engagement agreement, you should not assume that Mountain State Attorneys represents you or will protect a deadline.
Disclosure and retention
Information may be disclosed to service providers that support hosting, security, communications, intake, records, or analytics; to professional advisers; when required by law or legal process; to protect safety or rights; or in connection with an authorized business transition. Service providers receive information for the services they perform.
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for inquiry management, conflicts records, security, legal and professional obligations, dispute prevention, and the purposes described here. Retention periods can differ by category and context.
Choices, security, and contact
Browser controls may allow you to limit cookies or similar technologies, although doing so can affect site functions. You may contact the firm to ask about information submitted through this site. Legal, ethical, security, and conflicts-record obligations may limit deletion or disclosure requests.
No transmission or storage method is completely secure. Mountain State Attorneys uses reasonable measures appropriate to the information and services involved but cannot guarantee absolute security. Privacy questions may be directed to admin@mountainstateattorneys.com or (801) 770-4323.
